Our Process

Design Phase Custom Home Design Build

Most builders sell you a price and figure out the details as they go. We do the opposite.

Design Is Where Decisions Get Made

The Design phase translates your vision into the drawings, specifications, and selections that will guide construction. Architectural design, structural engineering, mechanical systems, interior selections, and material specifications are all coordinated here — before construction begins. The discipline of this phase is what prevents costly changes later.

What Happens During Design

How We Coordinate With Your Architect

If you’ve engaged an architect independently, we collaborate as a true design-build partnership. We attend design meetings, provide constructibility review on draft drawings, flag cost implications of design choices early, and bring our shop’s millwork capabilities into the design conversation when relevant. Architects who have worked with us repeatedly tell us they design better houses because they know what we can actually build.

Common Questions

FAQ About the Design Phase

Can I make changes during Design without penalty?

Yes that is exactly when changes should happen. Changes during Design are inexpensive. Changes during construction are not. The discipline of the Design phase is to surface every decision before drawings are finalized.

Yes. We provide architectural renderings, walkthrough videos, and (for clients who want to explore in more depth) immersive 3D visualizations through our AI Design Studio. Many clients also visit completed projects in person to see materials and details in their finished context.

We have an open conversation about where to find value without losing quality. We never simply substitute cheaper materials behind your back. We bring you specific options for instance, a less expensive stone slab that still meets the aesthetic, or a smaller footprint that preserves the rooms that matter most and you decide.
